July 2020 to Present. Vertical Plus is a leading SAAS provider in the e-commerce sector

Developing and maintaining production infrastructure and mission-critical internal systems. Liaising with development and management teams to define and deliver the infrastructure needed to support the strategic direction of the company. Staying up to date with the latest security threats and best practices for hosting environments and mitigating any potential threats. Helping maintain the ISO 9600, 27001 accreditation, preparing for cyber essentials and assisting where required on other documentation, data management, security and governance tasks as required. Additional project work included migration of customer websites and email accounts between servers as well as migration to Office 365/Google Apps. Lead project manager for the office move, disposal of WEEE equipment, secure data destruction and decom/move all existing infrastructure.

I have held three posts with this company, rising from web development manager, through head of systems and operations, to IT Infrastructure Manager.


IT Infrastructure Manager

January 2020 to Present

Key responsibilities are the optimisation of the existing infrastructure, development of new infrastructure solutions and maintenance of key security and maintenance programs to maintain our PCI compliance as a Level 1 Service Provider.

  • Reduced cost of Infrastructure by more than 50% monthly while maintaining solid reliable infrastructure
  • Secure decommissioning and removal of older components and software from infrastructure
  • Implemented a Kibana based monitoring system
  • Migrated EC2 instance based Databases to AWS RDS
  • Upgraded existing Icinga monitoring infrastructure to latest version
  • Moved legacy VPN systems to AWS
  • Assisted with the deployment of EFS based file stores for SAAS client specific data


Head of Systems and Operations, Airport Direct Travel Ltd T/A Rezcomm

November 2017 to January 2020

Responsible for all Development, Infrastructure, Support and Processes for ecommerce systems, with a focus to develop and maintain PCI and ISO27001 compliant polices and working practices. PCI compliance was achieved twice in late 2018 & 19, with processes developed to ensure continual compliance. Managed dev and support staff

  • Developed Internal documentation portal and assistance with developing Customer facing contact and support systems using Jira and hubspot
  • Working alongside the Dev team to streamline, optimise and improve the companies ecommerce solutions, transforming a monolithic single server app into collection of highly optimised, highly scalable independent micro services
  • Alongside this, optimising the infrastructure and moving all infrastructure and services to AWS
  • Moving all SSL certificates to Let’s Encrypt
  • Migrating all user data (docs & emails) and shared server assets to office 365

Main responsibility is building and leading the dev team for ecommerce platforms. Leading the daily stand ups and acting as the bridge head between the business and the dev teams producing the necessary documentation and reporting to the stakeholders.
